How can we help?

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Can't find yours? Email support@recordify.com and we'll help.

How do I stop a recording?

You don't press anything special. Tap anywhere on the screen, or press Back, Home, or Power — any of them stops the recording and saves it. There's no stop button to hunt for, so you can't lose a take.

Where are my recordings stored?

On your device first, always. Recordings save locally the moment you stop. If you create a free Recordify account, verify your email, and switch on Cloud backup, your recordings are also backed up to your private Recordify cloud storage — nothing uploads unless you turn that on.

Does Recordify work offline?

Yes. Recording and playback work with no internet connection at all, because everything happens on your device. The parts that need a connection are transcription and cloud backup — if you're offline, your recording still saves, and those catch up when you're back online.

How does transcription work?

Transcription is optional. When you use it, your audio is processed off your device by a third-party speech-to-text service to turn it into text. Transcription supports English at launch.

Automatic speech-to-text is helpful but not perfect — transcripts may contain errors, especially with background noise, accents, crosstalk, or specialized words. Check the text against the audio for anything important; your original recording is always kept.

Each plan includes a monthly transcription allowance, and the app always shows your current allowance and how much you've used. If you reach the allowance, recordings still save normally — transcription resumes when the allowance resets at the start of the next month.

Can I export or back up my data?

Yes, in several ways: turn on Cloud backup (with a free account), use the built-in "Back up all app data (ZIP)" export to save one backup file, share individual recordings through your phone's share sheet, or connect your own cloud-storage account in Settings.

We recommend keeping your own backups of anything important — especially before reinstalling the app or changing phones.

How do the Free and Pro plans work?

Free includes instant capture, playback, manual notes, your account, a limited number of active saved voice recordings (the current cap is shown in the app — recordings in Trash and text notes don't count, and the app never deletes anything you've saved because of the cap), a monthly transcription allowance, and cloud backup for the recordings you keep.

Pro is coming soon: unlimited saved recordings, cloud backup/sync/restore across your devices, folders, transcript and note search, export, and a larger monthly transcription allowance. Nothing is on sale in the app today — you'll see Pro in the app when it launches.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → account → delete account (you'll confirm with your password). On the web: app.recordify.com/settings/delete-account. Deletion takes effect after a 7-day grace period, during which you can cancel it. Deleting your account doesn't remove the recordings stored on your device.

What about my privacy?

Recordify is local-first: your recordings stay on your device unless you turn on a feature that sends them somewhere — cloud backup, transcription, the share sheet, or a manual export. No ads, no third-party analytics, no location collection. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.

A note on recording others: laws about recording conversations differ from place to place — some regions require only one person's consent, others require everyone's. You are responsible for following the recording-consent and wiretapping laws that apply where you record. Recordify does not provide legal advice.

A recording didn't start — what do I check?

Recordify needs the microphone permission. Open your phone's Settings → Apps → Recordify → Permissions, and make sure Microphone is allowed. If another app is actively using the microphone, close it and try again.

A recovered recording lost its title, date, or transcript

This is a known limitation: if a recording is recovered after an unexpected interruption, it can come back without its original title, date, or transcript. The audio itself is usually still there. You can give it a new title and run transcription again.

Reminders aren't firing

Reminders use your phone's notifications. Open Settings → Apps → Recordify → Notifications and make sure notifications are allowed (and not silenced by Do Not Disturb or a focus mode), then set a new reminder to confirm it comes through.

How do I back up before reinstalling?

Reinstalling or removing the app can remove the recordings stored on your device. Before you reinstall: open Recordify, use "Back up all app data (ZIP)", and save that file somewhere safe (or make sure Cloud backup is on and up to date). Keep the backup until you've confirmed everything is back.
